The Little Library at All Saints Ponsonby

By Ruth Barton

Our beautiful Little Library is the work of many people and many months.  It was suggested in 2021 at the first meeting of our Eco Church Committee. It is the 67th  little library built by Real World Living,  a charity that teaches practical skills (such as carpentry) and life skills to severely disabled young people. The box is made from recycled materials.  Claire, our People’s Warden, has been our contact person with Real World Living where Alan supervised the young carpenters; At All Saints, Ruth delivered the completed box; Barbara commissioned her artist-nephew to design and paint the mural; John added the legs and installed the library under a shady tree; Claire and Ruth painted the legs; many people are now bringing and borrowing books.

Real World Living has orders for fifteen more libraries. They need more materials, especially sheets of scrap plywood.  See realworldliving.co.nz
